PSA: That $150 deposit quote from a broker in Dallas wasn't a real quote at all
I moved a car from Dallas to Phoenix last month and the first broker I called quoted me $150 down to "lock in my spot." I paid it and the actual carrier price went up $275 when dispatch day came. Turns out the down payment was just their fee and they never had a carrier lined up at that number. I called a second broker who gave me the real all in price up front and it was $340 cheaper overall. Has anyone else dealt with a broker that takes a deposit before they even have a truck assigned?

Ugh that's so shady. A deposit should hold a truck, not just line their pockets. Straight up scam vibes.
