Found a 1962 FAA report that says a third of Navaho missile guidance failures were just dirty cannon plugs
Spent my lunch break in the hangar reading AC 43.13-1B's history appendix and found a stat saying connector contamination caused 34 percent of autopilot write-ups on the 727 fleet back in the day, which made me feel way better about the 2 hours I burned last Tuesday chasing a intermittent pitch channel that turned out to be a pin with a little green fuzz on it, so now I'm curious what old connector gremlins you all have dug up.
Sounds about right. I once spent half a shift pulling a whole avionics rack apart over a flap indication issue, only to find a cannon plug that looked like it had been used as a spider condo. The old timers just call it job security.
