Rant: That VoIP migration that was supposed to take 2 days and ate my whole month
Signed a client for a simple phone system swap back in March and 3 weeks later I was still untangling their old PBX wiring from 1997. Any other B2B service guys run into a 'quick job' that turned into a nightmare timeline?

Used to roll my eyes at clients who said "it's just a simple upgrade" but I get it now. That wiring from the 90s is always hiding something.

Has it always been this way with old tech, or are things just getting more tangled as we pile new stuff on top of old? @miasanchez that ceiling spelunking sounds way too familiar, like a lot of jobs I see just hide problems until you poke them.

Tell me about it. I once had a "quick" cable tray install that turned into me spelunking through a drop ceiling built during the Eisenhower administration. You pull one wire and suddenly you're playing the world's least fun game of 52 pickup with some dead phone lines.
