Lost a $400 detail job because my scale was off by 7mm

Trust the tools" haha yeah right I learned that lesson the hard way too. 7mm sounds tiny but try explaining that to a client who wanted flush with a 400 buck invoice. Guess we all need a reminder that machines lie and calipers never do.

Tried a $20 outlet tester from Amazon. Should have known better.

Cheap gear lies, cheap ingredients spoil, cheap advice backfires - it's the same story everywhere.

Got yelled at by a local in Bangkok for using the wrong hand to pay for my pad thai

Wait, hold on, is that really true about the left hand thing in Vietnam? I mean, I've heard about it in some countries but I didn't know it was that serious there. @the_eric, that's wild to me that she gave you that kind of reaction, like I guess it makes sense but wow. I would have been so mortified, I probably would have just apologized and tried to hand it over with my right hand again like a fool.

I finally saw the whole before-and-after thing with thermal paste today

Picked up a 12C drop on my old i7-7700K when I finally swapped the stock paste after like four years. It wasn't even running hot before, just wanted to see if it mattered. That stuff was crusty and flaky, looked like dried up play-doh. You don't realize how much it degrades until you actually replace it and see the numbers change. Honestly, for the price of a tube of paste, it's one of the best cheap upgrades you can do every few years.

Hot take: switching from generic drug store vitamins to food-based ones actually made a difference for me

Oh same! That Garden of Life stuff is legit.
