Tried the lattice boom setup for a tight corner job and it beat the telescopic hands down on Saturday
The maneuverability on the lattice was so much better in that tight downtown spot, I got the load placed in half the time it would've taken with the telescopic - has anyone else found lattice works better for cramped sites?

Ha, lattice booms and wind - tell me about it. I once had a lattice setup start swaying so bad in a gust that I looked like I was trying to dance with a crane. My foreman just stood there shaking his head, probably adding it to the list of reasons I need more practice. You're totally right that the lighter weight cuts both ways, it's not always a win in real conditions. I've definitely had days where I'd take a heavier telescopic just for the stability, especially if the ground isn't perfectly level. But on that tight downtown job, the lattice was a dream for getting into corners the telescopic would've scraped against. Guess it's a tradeoff every time.

Lattice booms are lighter, not always more maneuverable.

Right, totally get where you're coming from. I've worked with a few different boom types and the lighter ones sometimes feel like they're fighting you in strong wind. Had a real tough time keeping control on a shoot last summer with a lattice boom actually, had to swap it out halfway through. It's not just about the weight savings on paper, it's how it handles in real conditions that matters.
