Four wet trips in a row would make anyone switch. Do you find the hammock keeps you any warmer off the ground, or is that still a problem in Oregon weather?

Silver Falls last March, my thermometer showed 38 degrees at midnight. I was in the hammock with a good underquilt, and @ruby659, I swear it felt warmer than my sleeping pad ever did on the ground. The cold air just flows under you in a tent, seeping up through the pad. But with the hammock, you're suspended and that trapped air underneath stays still, so you don't get that chill. Only real issue I still fight is the wind cutting through, but a good tarp setup with the doors closed fixes most of that.

Wind's the real killer for sure. But here's what nobody talks about: hammocks let you pick your spot without caring about the ground. That soggy depression where water pools? Skip it. Rocky slope? Don't care. Just tie off and float. Sleeping pad's always gonna leak warmth through the ground no matter how good it is.
