Spent $2,500 on a managed IT service for my small business and got better uptime than our in-house guy ever gave us
My buddy said outsourcing IT would be a waste of money but after three server crashes in six months with our old setup the cloud monitoring alone has been worth it, anyone else find that paying for a service actually cuts the headache?

Is it just me or does having a pro team actually let you sleep better at night? I mean, with an in-house guy you're always wondering if they're actually on top of stuff or just coasting. With a service you've got a whole crew watching things 24/7 and someone to yell at if something goes wrong. Plus they usually have better tools than a single person running around with a laptop could ever afford. Maybe it's not for every business but for the ones that need consistent uptime it sounds like a no-brainer.

And that whole thing about having someone to yell at is more important than people admit. When you've got a single person messing up your server, you're stuck in this awkward spot where you need them but you're also furious. With a service you can just call and light someone up without worrying about ruining a working relationship. Plus the tooling thing is real, like I've seen some in-house guys running old versions of everything because they don't have the budget or time to keep up. A pro service gets bulk discounts on hardware and has dedicated people just for patching and monitoring. It's a different game entirely when you've got actual redundancy instead of one dude who might be on vacation when things catch fire.

lucas says sleeping better at night and honestly that's the part I keep coming back to. With a service you've got that 24/7 coverage but what happens when you need to escalate something at 3am and the person on the other end is just following a script? Are you actually getting the same level of urgency as when your in-house guy knows your specific setup and history?
