The 83% churn stat that shook my whole service model
I was digging through some industry reports last week and found that 83% of B2B customers who churned felt the vendor never actually solved their initial problem, not that the price was wrong or the product was bad. That blew my mind because I've been chasing discount pricing for months when the real issue is probably onboarding and follow through. It came from a 2024 customer success survey out of Chicago, but I can't find the original source now which makes me wonder if it's inflated. Has anyone else seen numbers like this that made you rethink how you run your service agreements?
That "initial problem" part is the key, but I'd push back on the 83% number. Those surveys usually ask people to pick one reason from a list, so it's more like 83% listed it as a factor, not the whole story. The takeaway is still right though, onboarding and follow through beat discounting every time.
