Drove 6 hours to Cranberry Lake in the Adirondacks for a 3 night loop and the whole trail was basically a swamp

Did you check the trail reports before you drove all that way? Cranberry Lake is known for being wet even in a dry summer, so 6 hours each way for a swamp sounds brutal. idk maybe it's just me but I would have turned around after the first mile of mud. That lake is pretty though, so at least you got a view with your soaked boots. Next time maybe aim for something higher up where the water drains.
