I used to think those plastic deck boxes were a waste of money
For years I just piled my garden tools and hoses in the corner of my yard in Denver. Every storm I'd be out there picking up shovels and rakes from the mud. My neighbor got one of those big resin deck boxes from Lowe's last spring and I laughed at him. Then after a hailstorm in July I spent an hour untangling a hose from a muddy bush and I cracked. I grabbed a 120 gallon box on sale for 80 bucks. Honestly it's a game changer. Everything stays dry and I can actually find my pruners now. Has anyone else tried those smaller snap-on shelf kits that go inside these boxes?

Yeah that bit about untangling hoses from muddy bushes hits close to home. I got the same size box and the shelf kit from Keter, the one that snaps onto the lid hinges. It's flimsy plastic but actually holds my smaller hand tools and gloves without them falling to the bottom. You ever have issues with water pooling on the lid during heavy rain? Mine bows a little and I'm worried about cracks forming over the winter.

Honestly, I saw a tip online that said to tilt the whole box forward just a hair on the legs when you install it. It helps water run off the lid instead of sitting there. @blair_chen81 I've got the same bowing issue and I'm worried too, especially with freezing and thawing over the winter. I stuck a couple of those rubber deck tiles under the front legs to give it a slight angle. Works so far but I'm not sure it's a permanent fix.

Hey @blair_chen81, have you tried putting a small wedge or shim under just the front edge of the box? I did that with a piece of wood from an old pallet and it got rid of the pooling completely. The tilt is barely noticeable but the water just runs off now instead of sitting there and stressing the lid.
