Pro tip: do not buy a $70 'precision' tape measure to check your truck bed
I bought one of those laser tape measures for $70 because I was sure my truck bed was 6 feet long and wanted to prove a guy at the hardware store wrong. The laser said 5 feet 11 inches, my old $8 Stanley said 5 feet 11 inches, and my truck bed is still 5 feet 11 inches. So what is everyone using to actually measure stuff, because clearly the laser was just a $62 light show.
Did your buddy at the hardware store have the same luck with his fancy one? My friend dropped like $60 on a laser measure to check if his new couch would fit through the door, and it kept reading different numbers every time depending on where he aimed it. He ended up just using his dad's old beat up tape from the 90s, which honestly still works better than half the new stuff out there.
