Paid $45 for a 2023 "SEO certification" course that told me to stuff keywords into every single sentence
So back in March I got laid off from my job doing social media for a small furniture store and this guy in a Facebook group kept saying his $45 SEO certification would make me "unemployable-proof" in 3 months. I paid it in April (yes I used my rent money, don't judge me lol) and the whole course was 11 videos filmed on a webcam in his kitchen. Lesson 4 literally said "add your main keyword to every sentence, even if it sounds weird, Google loves it." I followed that advice on my cousin's bakery site in Cincinnati and their traffic dropped from 800 visitors a month to 190 in like 6 weeks. The guy kept saying the drop was "the Google dance" and to wait 90 days. It never came back, and when I asked for my money back he blocked me on PayPal. Has anyone else gotten burned by one of these "certification" gurus, and how do you tell which ones are legit before you pay?

keyword in every sentence" was never a real Google rule, that's just bad advice
