A coworker told me my emails sounded too formal and I actually listened

I used to write every email like a business letter - full sentences, proper salutations, the works. Then last month, a project manager named Jen pulled me aside and said my replies made me seem cold and hard to work with. She showed me how she writes her emails in a more conversational tone, like just saying "Got it, I'll handle that" instead of "I have received your request and will address it accordingly." I tried her approach for a week and noticed people started responding faster and asking fewer follow up questions. Now I'm wondering if the whole "professional tone" thing is overrated for internal communication. Has anyone else gotten feedback that forced them to rethink how they communicate at work?

Jen was right. I got called out for the same thing at my last job and it felt like a punch in the gut at first. But switching to shorter, more natural emails made a huge difference... people actually started treating me like a person instead of a robot.

Saw a thing that said people trust shorter writing more. @lunar89 nailed it.
