Picked a $30 thrift store tripod over a $200 one and it held up fine
Was shooting my sister's wedding last weekend and my cheap tripod didn't wobble once during the ceremony. Has anyone else gotten lucky with a cheap buy like that?

Real talk, check the locks after a few uses because cheap plastic parts wear down fast.

A lot of times you're paying for durability and consistency with expensive tripods, not just basic function. For a single event where you're careful with it, a cheap tripod can work great. The real test comes when you use it daily for years or accidentally bump it into a doorframe. Still, for a wedding where you're not taking it hiking through rough terrain, that $30 find was a smart move.

Man I used to be the GUY who said you had to spend serious money on a tripod or it would fail you. Especially for something important like a wedding. But honestly hearing stories like this is making me rethink that whole mindset. I always figured the cheap ones would flex in the wind or the head would slip during a slow shutter shot. But if it held up for a whole ceremony without wobbling then that's pretty solid proof that budget gear can work when you need it to. The key is really knowing your own shooting conditions and being careful with the equipment. I'm not saying I'd trust a $30 tripod for a paid commercial shoot in a storm but for a controlled indoor setting it clearly gets the job done. Good on you for saving that cash and still getting the results you needed.
