PSA: That viral 'experts are lying about seed oils' rant made me drop $180 testing it myself and the numbers don't back him up
Saw a clip last week with 2 million views. Guy says all seed oils are poison and have 50 times more toxins than butter. So I did my own cheap test at home with litmus strips and a $40 thermometer over 4 days. Heated canola and butter to the same temp for the same time. Butter smoked way earlier, like 90 degrees sooner. His 'toxin' number came from one blog post with no author name. No dates, no lab, nothing. I checked the guy's page and he sells a $60 tallow starter kit. Before you share that clip, look for the source link. Did anyone else try to trace where his numbers actually came from?
Man, I did the same thing with that carnivore guy last year who said veggies were killing everyone. Turned out his only "study" was a blog post he wrote himself, and surprise, he sells a $200 meat box. Now I just check if they're selling something before I believe a single number. Good on you for running the test yourself instead of just sharing it.
