Spent $80 on a digital scale and it's the best money I've ever put into my kitchen.

I used to measure flour by volume and my sourdough was a total gamble. Now my loaves are consistent every single time, and I feel like I actually know what I'm doing. Anyone else have a simple tool that made a huge difference?

My old apartment had a cheap plastic scale that drifted a full ounce over time. That tiny error is why my coffee always tasted wrong until I got a proper one. It's wild how much small, precise tools can fix problems you didn't even know you had.

Used to roll my eyes at people weighing coffee beans. Seemed like overkill for a morning cup. Then my brother got me a decent scale and the difference was actually crazy. My cheap one was basically guessing. Turns out I'm not a coffee snob, I just needed the right tool to make it taste right.

Honestly a good scale changes everything for baking, like @grant380 said about coffee. Mine showed me my "tablespoon" of salt was almost double what recipes called for. No wonder my cookies were a salty mess sometimes lol.
