Just realized my oven runs 25 degrees hot after a disastrous cake at my sister's baby shower.

I used an oven thermometer at home to check, and now my bakes are way more consistent, anyone else have to adjust for a wonky oven?

Yeah I always just trusted the dial... guess I was wrong.

Trusting the dial is a classic mistake. My last apartment had an oven that would swing almost 50 degrees depending on its mood. Burnt the outside, raw in the middle, the whole deal. An oven thermometer was a total game changer, I just leave one in there all the time now. It's wild how off they can be straight from the factory.

Fifty degrees? That's not a mood swing, that's a full on oven tantrum. How does anything even survive in there? My old one was maybe 15 off and I thought that was bad. Can't imagine trying to roast a chicken with that kind of chaos going on.
