That old barber's advice about cold blades was spot on
An old timer at the shop in El Paso told me to keep my clippers cold in the winter, said it stops the skin from flaring up. I thought he was crazy, tried it on a client last Tuesday and the line came out clean with zero irritation. Anyone else ever get a weird tip from a veteran that actually worked out?

You really think the temperature of the metal is doing the heavy lifting here? I mean, cold blades just make the hair stiffer, so you get a cleaner cut. The skin flare up thing sounds more like you changed your pressure or the blade was sharper. I froze my trimmer once for a week and the only difference I noticed was my hand getting cold. Maybe the old timer just wanted you to slow down and pay attention. That's usually the real trick.

Same thing with razor blades, old dude said freeze em and my shaves got way smoother too.
