Paid a $75 LLC filing fee to shield myself from a $4k invoice, not sure it actually works that way

My dad once formed an LLC called "Not My Problem LLC" because he thought it would keep his rental house separate from his trucking business, and then he mixed up the bank accounts within like two months. So congrats, you're already doing better than him. The $75 part is the easy part, the hard part is keeping the LLC and you as separate as possible, like never paying personal bills from the business account and never signing your own name on a contract that should be the LLC's. If a lawyer can argue the LLC is just your piggy bank, the shield gets weak and they come after you. Four grand is small enough that most people would just pay it, but if you're gonna do the LLC thing, do it right or you're out $75 plus the invoice.
