I finally got my new shower valve installed... upside down

Spent last Saturday afternoon swapping out a old Moen valve in my master bath. Got it all soldered in, turned the water back on, and went to test it. The handle would only turn the water to full hot when I pushed it down. Turns out I had the whole cartridge rotated 180 degrees. Had to drain the lines again, pull the cartridge, flip it, and reinstall. Took me an extra 90 minutes just because I didn't double check the orientation first. Has anyone else done something similar with a valve or fixture install?

30 bucks says your water bill won't notice the difference. I've seen people install shower heads upside down on purpose because they liked the spray pattern better. Plumbing is one of those things where you can mess up half a dozen times and the water still comes out fine at the end. As long as nothing leaked and you don't need a map to find hot versus cold, you're probably overthinking it.

Four out of five plumbers I know would call what you just said a personal attack, and the fifth one would probably nod and say "yeah, I've done worse." I once watched a guy install a toilet backwards and swear it flushed better that way, so honestly the upside down shower head thing doesn't even surprise me. You're right though, water doesn't care about your mistakes as long as it's moving and not ending up on the floor. The real test is when you're standing in the shower and realize you can't tell if you're cleaning yourself or just getting pelted in the face.

Did you at least end up keeping the labels for hot and cold straight after flipping it?
