Spent $600 on a heated floor system in our bathroom and totally worth it
I installed electric radiant floor heating under 30 square feet of tile in our small master bath here in Chicago. The mat kit cost about $600 and I did the wiring myself after watching a few videos. Step by step, I laid the mat, covered it with thin set, and hooked it to a programmable thermostat. It makes getting out of the shower in the winter way less miserable. Has anyone else tried a cheaper brand that still works well?

Ngl $600 for a heated floor sounds like a lot just to avoid a chilly step out of the shower. Is it really that deep?

Not sure I'm on board with this one. I get that cold floors are unpleasant, but six hundred dollars is a lot for something that lasts a few seconds. Honestly, I'd rather put that money toward a nice bath mat and a space heater you can run in the bathroom for a minute before you step out. The whole heated floor setup seems more like a luxury than a real need. I live in a place where winters get pretty cold and I've never felt like it was worth the cost. To each their own, but I think people overestimate how much it actually improves things.
