Watched a tiler in Spokane fix my crooked bathroom floor in 20 minutes
I was two days into ripping out the old vinyl in my guest bath and the subfloor had this dip near the shower drain. A local tiler named Dave came by to give a quote and he just grabbed a bag of self-leveler and poured it right there. He said I was overthinking everything. The floor came out dead flat. Has anyone else saved time by just calling a pro for advice instead of guessing?

Haha yeah the pros really just know what shortcuts actually work. Had a plumber do the same thing with my toilet flange once, I was stressing about a level and he just eyeballed it with a little shim, told me to stop watching youtube tutorials lol.

Yeah man, you're totally right. My buddy who does tile work for a living showed up to fix my backsplash and I was like "don't you need a laser level?" and he just laughed and slapped a piece of scrap wood against the wall and it was dead nuts perfect. I think we overthink this stuff because we watch all these influencer guys on Instagram who make everything look like a surgical procedure. Meanwhile the real pros have been doing the same janky tricks for decades and somehow it always works out. My dad's a carpenter and he still uses a dollar bill as a feeler gauge sometimes, drives me crazy but he's never been wrong yet.

Why is it that pros always make the complicated stuff look SO simple while we spend hours overthinking tiny details? I've noticed this same thing with mechanics, chefs, pretty much anyone who does their job for real instead of just talking about it online.
