Took me 3 hours to figure out my firebox door was warped
Had this old Offset smoker that just would not hold temp steady no matter what I did. I was messing with dampers, fuel ratios, the whole nine yards for like 3 hours during a brisket cook. Finally noticed light bleeding out the gap between the firebox door and the frame. A $5 roll of fiberglass gasket tape from the hardware store fixed it right up. Anyone else waste a whole cook because of a stupid air leak?

Leaky smoker doors are the worst, a little gasket tape makes all the difference in the world.

Had a buddy who used gasket tape on his and said it worked perfect but then he couldn't get the door shut right after a few months. Did you have any trouble adjusting the latch after putting yours on or did it just seal up on its own?

Dude @jason_stone59, that's exactly what happened to me. Put a new gasket on my offset and it sealed up great for like two months, then the door started sticking bad and I had to force it shut. Ended up having to mess with the latch a bunch - filed a little off the strike plate and bent the latch tab with pliers. Still not as smooth as stock but at least it seals now. My neighbor used the felt gasket and his door warped a bit from the heat, think it was too thick.
