Picked a gas grill over charcoal 6 months ago and I'm still second-guessing it

I was set on buying a Weber charcoal kettle for $150 until my buddy talked me into a used gas grill for $75 from Facebook Marketplace. The gas one heats up in 10 minutes and is way easier to clean, but I swear the burgers don't taste the same as when I used a chimney starter. I've cooked about 30 meals on it now and the convenience is nice, but I miss that smoky flavor. Did anyone else feel stuck between budget and taste when picking a grill? What did you choose and did you regret it?

Oh man, I totally get where you're coming from! I actually read this article from some BBQ blogger that said gas grills give you "heat without the soul" which sounds cheesy but I can't disagree lol. I picked up a charcoal Weber for $60 on clearance and honestly the startup time is annoying but I just light it and go do other stuff while it heats up. That smoky taste is just hard to beat for burgers and steaks, even with a smoke tube on gas.

That "heat without the soul" line hits hard. I'd keep the gas grill and add a smoke tube.

Get a smoking tube off Amazon for $15 and throw some wood chips in there. Same pattern applies to all my decisions - chasing that perfect balance between easy and good never works out.
