Hit 30 straight days of visiting Kurt Cobain posts on this sub and now I feel like a fraud
So I made a dumb bet with my buddy Dave. We were arguing about whether people really care about dead celebs or just pretend to. I said I could go 30 straight days finding new posts about Kurt Cobain being overrated on this sub. I hit 30 on Tuesday. The thing is, I started out agreeing with most of it. Like the whole "he was just okay, Nirvana got lucky" take felt right to me. But after seeing the same recycled point 30 different ways, I kind of flipped. Now I think the hate is just as fake as the worship. People here aren't debating, they're just performing how much they don't care. Dave won the bet anyway because I admitted I actually like Nevermind now. Has anyone else done a dumb deep dive like this and ended up on the wrong side of their own opinion?
Appreciate the honesty but I see it the opposite way. The hate usually comes first for a reason, people get tired of being told a guy who made three albums is some kind of god, so they push back hard. Thirty days of anything will bend your brain, that is just how repetition works, and admitting you like Nevermind now might say more about the bet than about the music. Nirvana was fine, good even, but the worship got so loud that the backlash was bound to be loud too. Sounds like you did not find the truth, you just wore yourself down.
