Binge rewatch ruined my favorite show after I visited the filming town

Drove through Wilmington last weekend on a family trip and suddenly every beach scene from that drama series just felt fake. The boardwalk they use for the big chase episode is like 2 blocks long, not the endless stretch they show. I get that TV cheats, but now I can't watch episode 3 without laughing at the obvious CGI palm trees. Has anyone else had a location visit totally kill a show for them, or am I just too picky?
