Binged a 14 season crime show, now I just skip the first 3 episodes

Started watching this procedural drama on a whim last month cause I was stuck in bed with a cold. By episode 5 I realized the first 3 were basically just character intros and one-off cases that never matter again. Now I tell everyone to skip straight to season 1 episode 4, saves like 3 hours. Anyone else have a show where the real plot only kicks in way later?

Why would you ever skip the first three episodes? Those intros set up every character’s backstory, and the one-off cases actually show how the team works before everything goes off the rails. If you jump straight to episode 4, you’re missing the slow build that makes the later plot twists hit harder. The showrunners put those episodes there for a reason, and skipping them is like reading a book from chapter 4. You might save time, but you lose the foundation, and the whole show feels thinner for it.
