Just wasted 12 hours on a show that got canceled after season 1

I started watching The I-Land on Netflix thinking it was a hidden gem since it had a cool mystery hook, but after 7 episodes the ending was just a cliffhanger with no season 2 and I found out it was canceled in 2021. The acting was rough and the plot got so confusing I had to rewind like 5 times just to follow what was happening. Has anyone else fallen for a show that had a good premise but totally flopped in execution and left you hanging?

Oh man, that sucks. I had the same thing happen with Daybreak on Netflix. Cool zombie apocalypse comedy with a guy who was basically Mad Max. Got real weird and confusing halfway through. Binged it in a weekend and found out it was dead. Now I just wait until a show has at least two seasons before I start.

Feels like everything these days is built to be disposable even the stuff we love. It's like nobody wants to commit to anything long term anymore, not shows or even friendships sometimes.
