My sister and I used to watch 'The Office' reruns every Thursday night in her dorm room back in 2019, but last week we finally started 'Severance' over video chat and the whole vibe is just completely different.
It's wild how our shared show ritual went from laughing at the same old jokes on a tiny TV to trying to unpack that insane season finale in real time, with me in Chicago and her in Portland, and I'm curious if anyone else has a show that marks a big shift in how they watch stuff with someone.

That shift from a comfort rewatch to a complex new show is a big mood. Did you find the distance made talking about "Severance" better, or do you miss the shared couch for something that intense?

Honestly used to think watching a show together meant being in the same room... but what @fiona_kim97 said about the distance maybe making it better for a complex show really hit me. My best friend and I had that shift with "Dark," trying to figure out the timeline mess over text. It forced us to actually talk about what was happening instead of just sitting there quietly. The shared confusion from miles apart made it a different kind of close, you know? Definitely changed my mind on what a watch party can be.
