That $40 anvil I found on Facebook Marketplace was a total bust

Picked it up from a guy in Springfield thinking I scored big, but it had a massive crack hidden under some rust. Ended up being worthless as a striking surface. Anyone else get burned by a cheap used anvil?

@robinp89 Yeah, anvils aren't some cartoon joke, they're used for blacksmithing and metalwork. People collect them too. Did you check the crack with a penny test or just eyeball it? That's the first thing I'd ask anyone selling a used anvil. They'll lie about it if they know it's cracked. Sounds like you learned a hard lesson. Springfield has a few guys who flip junk anvils on purpose. What did the seller say when you called him out? Did he ghost you or offer any refund?

It's like that old saying, if it sounds too good to be true it probably is. I swear the whole world is full of stuff that looks great at first but has a hidden flaw somewhere you can't see until it's too late. That's just how it goes with anything these days, not just anvils.

Wait, did you just say anvils? Like the big metal things Roadrunner drops on Wile E. Coyote? That's a weirdly specific example, man.
