I rewatched that clip 6 times and she never blinked, which is honestly more impressive than getting it right. Why do people act like every flub needs a blooper reel when half the charm is the deadpan recovery?

The part about her never blinking is what gets me too. Like, that deadpan recovery is a skill you can't really teach, it just comes from years of live TV where you learn that stopping to laugh or correct yourself makes it ten times more awkward. Honestly the news is already bleak half the time, so a little "possibly a car" moment is just free comedy. And the fact that she said it with the exact same serious tone as everything else is what makes it work, if she had smirked it would've ruined it. Blooper reels are fine but they kind of kill the magic by pointing at it, you know? The best stuff is when nobody reacts at all and it just slides right past.
