The $40 'TV remote fix' that saved my whole movie night

I mean my old remote kept eating batteries and skipping channels every 10 seconds, so I grabbed a cheap IR blaster on Amazon for 40 bucks. Plugged it into my laptop and honestly thought I'd wasted the cash, but then it synced perfectly with my 2014 Vizio in like 2 minutes. Anyone else ever had a random accessory just nail a fix out of nowhere?

My 2013 Samsung finally died last month, so I grabbed a $15 universal remote and it paired with everything in five minutes.
