The $60 lapel mic that made my livestream sound like a potato

Everyone raves about cheap wireless mics for live videos, but mine picked up every echo and dropped audio right during a news blooper clip I was reacting to. I spent 60 bucks on it after seeing it in a few streamer setups, and it kept cutting out every time I turned my head. The weird part is the built-in phone mic worked better for the whole 2 hours I tested both side by side. Has anyone else had worse luck with budget wireless gear than just using the default setup?

Cheap wireless mics cut out like crazy, check the frequency bands or just stick with your phone mic.

My third take with that same style of mic had the audio lag like half a second behind my video, so I looked like a badly dubbed kung fu movie while trying to react to a clip of a cat falling off a shelf. I ended up pulling the whole thing out of my pocket mid-stream and just held my phone up near my face like a caveman. People in chat kept saying the phone audio was way clearer, which honestly stung a bit. Also my neighbor's wifi router somehow made it buzz whenever I walked near my office door, so I had to do my whole stream sitting in a weird crouch by the window. The cable on that thing also broke after like two weeks, so I just use my wired earbuds now. I feel like cheap wireless mics are only good if you never move and live somewhere with zero radio noise.
