Blew $60 on a foam core cutter that barely lasted a month

I picked up this fancy foam core cutting tool from an online board game accessory shop thinking it would make my custom inserts perfect. After maybe ten cuts into some 5mm board, the blade started catching and tearing everything up. Now I'm back to using a regular utility knife and ruler, which works way better. Anyone else have a tool they bought for game modding that just let them down?

Actually I think the issue might be more with the blade quality than the tool itself. The cheap blades they include with those cutters are notoriously bad, but a fresh Olfa blade snaps right in and works like a dream.

Honestly is it really that big of a deal though? Like you said, a regular utility knife and a ruler does the job just fine and costs like five bucks at the hardware store. I've been using the same cheap box cutter for years on foam board and it still cuts clean. People get too caught up in buying special tools for every little thing.

My friend had the exact same issue with that tool!
