My game night in Austin totally fell apart over a rules fight
We were playing a heavy euro game, about two hours in, when two friends got into a huge argument about turn order. One guy said the rulebook clearly states you go clockwise, the other swore the designer's video said you pick based on victory points. It got so loud the neighbor knocked on the door. I had to pause the game, pull up the official FAQ on my phone, and read the answer out loud to settle it. Has anyone else had a game night almost ruined by a bad rules call?

Watched a friendship nearly end over a worker placement game last year. The fight was about whether you could block a space if you had no workers left to actually place. One guy was quoting a forum post from 2012, the other was screaming about the spirit of the game. We had to dig through three different BGG threads to find the designer's clarification. The mood was totally dead after that.

Ugh, that's the worst. I just make a house rule on the spot now to keep things moving. Arguing over the letter of the law kills the fun every time.
