Overheard a guy at my local shop say 'Settlers is still the best gateway game' and I nearly choked on my coffee

I mean, he was clearly stuck in 2010 or something, because after a decade of Wingspan and Azul taking over, how can you still push that dice-rolling frustration fest on new players? Has anyone else had to bite their tongue when someone dinosaurs their recommendations at a store?
