Talking to my kid's teacher about pressure vessels made me see our work differently
I was at parent night and mentioned I build boilers. Her eyes got wide and she said, 'So you make giant, safe containers for energy? That's like controlled power.' I always just saw it as metal and code. But her saying 'controlled power' stuck with me. It framed the whole job as managing force, not just welding plate. Made me proud of the craft in a new way. Anyone else have a chat that reframed how you see the trade?

Wait, you build boilers? That's wild. I mean, I fix leaky faucets all day, but you're out there making the things that could actually go boom if they're wrong. That teacher nailed it, calling it controlled power. It's not just pipes, it's like you're building a cage for a storm. Makes my job seem pretty tame.

Building a cage for a storm" is such a crazy way to put it. That really makes you think about the pressure in those things.
