Hit page 300 in a book I almost quit at page 50
Last month I nearly tossed a book club pick because it felt slow, but someone said to give it 100 pages. I finally got hooked around 150 and now I am 300 pages in. What made you stick with a book you hated at first?

Oh man, I've totally been there! I almost stopped reading "The Name of the Wind" after the first 50 pages because it felt like nothing was happening. But someone told me to push through and by page 120 I was completely hooked, ended up loving the whole series. Sometimes you just need to get past the setup before the story grabs you, you know?

Yeah, that thing you said about getting past the setup really hits home. I mean, it's like with new hobbies or even trying a new food, you gotta give it a fair shot before you decide you hate it. I remember starting to learn guitar and the first few weeks were just sore fingers and bad sounds, but I stuck with it and now I love playing. It's weird how our brains want instant payoff all the time, but the good stuff usually takes a little patience. Maybe that's just how life works though, the best things aren't always the easiest to get into at first.

Totally get the guitar thing. My fingers were killing me for the first month but once you get that first clean chord it's all worth it.
