Our book club hit 50 members last night - I thought we'd cap out at 30
We're a small town group that meets at the library in Bend. I started it two years ago with just 4 people, and now we've got a waitlist. Has anyone else been surprised by how fast their group grew?

Wait, isn't Bend a city not a small town?

You're not wrong @shane_bell, Bend is technically a city. But calling it a "small town" isn't totally off either. It's one of those places that grew fast but still has that small town feel in a lot of ways. The downtown area is pretty compact and walkable, not like a big city center. And the community vibe is more like a town than a city, if that makes sense.

Gotta push back on that a little. Bend is a legit city by any measure - population over 100k, traffic jams that rival Portland on a bad day, and a Costco that's packed from open to close. All the growth has turned it into a place where you can't even find a parking spot downtown on a Tuesday afternoon. The small town vibe is more of a marketing thing for the real estate agents and breweries than the actual reality of living there.
