Got to admit, my first time reading it I was so confused I spent half the book thinking Holden was a fish for some reason. Then I realized "catcher in the rye" isn't about fishing, and felt real dumb about myself.

And @phoenixk64 is right, it does have a certain innocence to it, like you were picturing something completely different.

Wait, did you really think Holden was fishing the whole time? That's honestly kind of sweet in a way, I can totally see how you'd make that connection. I've definitely had book moments where I was way off base too, so I feel your pain.
