A client said my headbands felt too tight on their books

They pointed out that the tension was making the boards pull away from the spine after a few months. I switched to a lighter-weight linen thread and now leave a bit more slack in the sewing. Has anyone else had to adjust their headband technique for specific bindings?

Mine were so bad they looked like a toddler tried to tie a tie. I'm pretty sure my first one was just a knot with a tail. Took me a solid week to get something you could actually call a bow.

Lol, my first headbands were basically tourniquets. I was so scared of them being loose I nearly sewed the covers shut.
