PSA: check your PVA glue batch numbers, lost 3 weeks of work on a client book
Last month I bound a 400 page rebind for a regular customer here in Portland and the whole text block separated from the spine after two days on the shelf. Turned out the gallon of PVA I bought in October was from a bad batch that never fully cured, and the rep admitted they had pulled it from shelves the week after I bought mine. Has anyone else run into this, and does anyone know how to check batch dates before the glue is already on the spine?
