Unpopular opinion: Cheap thread caused my last project to unravel in weeks.
I fixed it by testing linen thread after my book fell apart.

Switched to linen after @kevinh48's tip, saved my project.

Linen can actually be a real pain for some projects though. That stiffness everyone likes makes it hard to pull tight without snapping, and it doesn't always play nice with modern paper or glue. Sometimes a good synthetic thread is just easier to work with and holds up better over time.

So what made you try linen over other stronger threads? I've heard it's good for bookbinding but can be tricky to work with. Was there a specific reason you landed on that fix?

You're right about linen being a pain, but seeing my book stay together changed my mind.
