That facebook marketplace seller who sent me a recording of herself instead of photos
I was trying to buy a used table saw from a lady in Phoenix. Asked for pics of the blade and motor. She sent me a 4 minute voice memo instead. Her voice had this weird perfect cadence, no filler words like um or like. Every sentence was exactly 8 seconds long. I timed it. Then she typed out a follow up message that used the word 'aforementioned' which nobody in Phoenix says. I backed out of the deal but still wonder if I was talking to a bot or just someone who talks funny. Has anyone else gotten audio clips that seemed too perfect?

Whoa hold on, I gotta push back on this a little bit. I mean, maybe she was just being thorough and wanted to sound professional? Selling a table saw is not the same as selling a t-shirt, you know? Some people actually put effort into their listings and talk in a clear way on purpose. And the word 'aforementioned' isn't that crazy, maybe she read a lot of instruction manuals or works in some kind of legal stuff. I think we jump to 'it's a bot' too fast these days, sometimes people are just weirdly formal and it throws us off. Plus, a 4 minute voice memo is actually more human than typing, a bot would probably just send you a stock photo.

Dude, I once got a voice memo from a guy selling a leaf blower that sounded like a customer service recording. Every pause was the exact same length. I felt like I was being audited by the Home Depot returns department. Probably just a weird bot or someone who practices their phone greetings in the mirror like I do with my pizza delivery order.

Oh man, I had the exact same thing with a used pressure washer listing last summer! The voice memos were so perfectly timed it creeped me out, so I just asked for a specific photo of the serial number and they went silent immediately. That's my new test for weird sellers now - if they can't snap one simple pic, I'm out.
