Spent 3 hours Sunday reporting fake accounts in a single comment section and only 2 got removed
My sister posted a photo of her new puppy in a Facebook group on Sunday morning and by the evening there were around 60 comments, and I swear half of them were fake. The giveaway was how they all used the same phrase, 'so adorable, congrats on the new family member,' word for word, just with a different emoji at the end. I clicked one profile and it had 4 photos total, all uploaded on the same day, and a bio that just said 'love dogs and travel.' I reported about 20 of them one by one and got 2 removal notices back by Monday night. The weird one was a reply asking my sister to message them about a 'free pet insurance quote,' which felt way more off than the congrats spam. Has anyone found a faster way to flag these word-for-word comment farms, or do you just report and wait?
Wow, I get why you did it but I kinda disagree that mass reporting is the way to go. Reporting 20 profiles in one batch probably made the system flag YOU as the spammer, which is why so few got removed. When accounts get reported too fast from one person, the review just dumps them in a pile. The pet insurance one is the real danger though, that's a scam fishing for her info, and that deserves its own report with the reply linked. I'd say report the 2 or 3 worst ones and let the word-for-word congrats stuff go, they're fake but they're not hurting anyone. Save your energy and your account for the ones that actually try to get money or info.
