Got told my ficus was 'looking sad' and it bugged me for days
I mean, I thought I was doing fine with my ficus lyrata. Watered it every week, kept it near the window. Then a friend came over and said it looked 'a little sad and droopy' and I couldn't stop thinking about it. Turns out I was overwatering it by like half a gallon each time, so I cut back to every 10 days and now it's perking up. Has anyone else had a friend's offhand comment make you totally rethink your whole plant routine?

oh man, the "looking sad" comment hits different. i had someone tell me my pothos looked "depressed" once and i literally googled plant therapy for an hour. turns out i was just watering it during a heatwave.

Wait, did you also spend like twenty minutes talking to your spider plant because you thought it needed emotional support?

Oh man, that's such a relatable thing. Actually, my friend Carrie had this happen with her monstera. Someone told her the leaves were "reaching too much" and she panicked for a whole week, thinking it was some kind of plant signal. She ended up moving it to three different spots in her apartment because she thought it needed more light. Turns out her friend was just joking about how big the leaves were getting. But she was so stressed about it that she started taking photos every day to track its "mood." Now she just laughs about it but I swear she still checks those photos sometimes.
