I read that some orchids can live for over 100 years
Found it in a book at the library about houseplant history. My little one on the windowsill is maybe 2, so that kind of blew my mind. Anyone have an old plant that's been in their family for ages?

Heard about one in a greenhouse from the 1800s.

Actually, the oldest known greenhouse is way older than that. There's a record of one built for the Roman emperor Tiberius around 30 AD to grow cucumbers year-round. It was made from sheets of mica, a type of stone, to let light in.

That Roman cucumber greenhouse is a wild piece of history.

Wait, didn't Spencer just say that one was for Tiberius? Honestly, I thought the mica greenhouse was the first one they were talking about. The 1800s ones came way later, like the big glass and iron ones for pineapples.
