I thought my fiddle leaf fig was fine until the leaves started dropping

It was in my living room in Austin, and I kept it about 5 feet from a south-facing window. For months it looked okay, then suddenly it lost 8 leaves in a single week. I realized the AC vent was blowing right on it, drying it out way too fast. I moved it to a corner with bright, indirect light and started misting it every other day. Now it's pushing out 3 new leaves. Has anyone else had a plant react badly to air conditioning?

Misting every other day might actually cause fungus issues, idk. Maybe try a pebble tray for humidity instead. Glad it's putting out new leaves though.

Oh the pebble tray thing reminds me, I tried that once but my cat kept stealing the pebbles to bat around the house.

Fungus from misting is mostly a myth if you have decent air flow. My calathea gets sprayed daily and has zero issues. Pebble trays barely do anything for actual humidity anyway.

Yeah I had the exact same thing happen with my monstera last summer. AC vent was blowing right on it and it started dropping leaves like crazy before I figured out what was going on. Misting helped a bit but what really turned it around was a cheap little humidifier I put nearby, made a way bigger difference than any pebble tray ever did. Also make sure you're not overwatering to compensate for the dry air, that'll just cause root rot. Sounds like you caught it in time though, three new leaves is a good sign.
