The 3 pm wilt test that fixed my watering schedule for good
I kept killing seedlings in my east-facing window box in Portland. Overwatering or underwatering, I could never tell. Then a guy at the nursery said to skip the morning check and just look at them at 3 pm, when the sun hits the glass hardest. If leaves droop even an inch, they need water. If they look perky, leave them alone. Tried it for 2 weeks and lost zero plants. Anyone else got a weird time-of-day trick that works better than the standard finger test?

Same trick works at 5 pm here, catches the heat wave lag.
