My $40 rice cooker quit on night 12, so I fixed it with a butter knife and a prayer
Bought a $40 rice cooker off Amazon back in March and it died on me 12 days in, right in the middle of dinner at my place in Bakersfield. The lid latch would not click shut anymore, so the thing kept shutting off mid cook and I was stuck with crunchy rice and a hungry roommate staring at me. I popped the latch open with a butter knife, bent the little metal tab back with my fingers, and it has run fine for 4 months now. Anyone else got a cheap kitchen gadget that only needed a 30 second fix to keep going?
Man, a butter knife fix that lasts 4 months is a WIN in my book. My old toaster had a lever that stopped latching so I just wedged a folded up matchbook under it and that thing ran another year. Sometimes the cheap fix beats shipping it back and waiting on a replacement. You saved yourself a whole headache there.
